Instant Pot Radish Sambar (No Saute Sambar)

This is a method of just dumping all the ingredients without sauteing but only needed is the seasoning at last with a golden fried onions that makes it so aromatic with a good taste. I have already posted drumstick Sambar, mixed Vegetable sambar, simply superb bisibellabath, easy one pot sambar.

Serving: 4

Ingredients:

Tuvar Dal / Split pigeon peas - 1/3 cup (washed and soaked in water for 1 hr)
Radish - 1 (chopped into roundles)
Onion - 1/2 cup (sliced)
Tomato - 1 (thinly sliced)
Green chillies - 3
Garlic - 3
Turmeric - 1/4 tspn
Tamarind paste - 1/2 tbsn
Sambar powder - 1 tbsn
Coriander leaves - few (chopped)
Oil - 1/2 tspn
Salt to taste

For Seasoning:

Oil - 2 tspn
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tspn
Fenugreek seeds - 1/8 tspn
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Red chilli - 2
Asafoetida - 1/4 tspn
Shallots - 5 (finely chopped)

Method:

1. Grab all the ingredients.

2. Add all the ingredients except tamarind, coriander leaves, tamarind paste with 2 1/2 cups of water and 1/2 tspn of oil in the inner pot.


3. Close the lid. Press the manual for 12 mins in High Pressure HP in sealed position. Then do Natural Pressure Release NPR.

4. Open the lid. Add tamarind paste, sambar powder, few coriander leaves. Press the saute mode and cook for 3 mins.

5. Season with all the ingredients. Add shallots and saute till it becomes golden brown.


6. Add the seasoning to the sambar mixture. Switch off. Garnish with coriander leaves.

Notes:

This sambar suits for both rice and tiffin.
You can add tamarind extract from a small gooseberry size instead of tamarind paste. For additional flavour season the ingredients in ghee.
You can have a simple potato fry, Mushroom red chilli saute, baby potato fry, vegetarian chicken 65 as a side dish for this sambar.
Non vegetarian lovers can enjoy spicy chicken 65, garlic pepper chicken, Nethili fry, Nethili thokku, egg tawa roast, shrimp kadaai roast, cumin pepper egg masala.
