This is an easy and a yummy recipe that is usually prepared in Erode (Tamil Nadu) with chicken and so the name chicken Pallipaalayam is a famous dish that most people would have already heard about it. Today am preparing the same in mushroom which tasted delicious. It's a good choice of starters for vegetarians. The main ingredients are the red chillis and coconut slices that adds a punch with coconut bite in every scoop. Check out my other mushroom recipes...

Shallots - 15 (chopped)
Red chilli - 10
Coconut slices - 1/2 cup
Curry leaves - few
Ginger garlic paste - 1/2 tbsn
Turmeric - 1/4 tspn
Coriander powder - 2 tspn
Coconut oil - 2 tbsn
Salt to taste

Method:

1. Grab all the ingredients.

2. Heat a kadaai. Add oil, shallots, red chilli and saute for about 2 mins.

3. Add ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell goes.

4. Add mushroom, salt, turmeric, coriander powder. Saute well until all the moisture evaporates and it becomes like a coated masala. No need to add any water. It gets cooked with it's own moisture content.

5. Add coconut slices and saute for few mins (about 2 mins). Add curryleaves and switch off.

6. Delicious mushroom Pallipaalayam is ready to serve.

Notes:

You can follow the same recipe in chicken too.
Wash the mushroom and wipe it well with a paper towel. Make sure the mushrooms dry so that it does not leaches more water while cooking.
Adding more coconut gives more taste. So try to add more or the mentioned amount to get the real taste.
This can be served as a starter and also as a side dish for sambar, rasam and curd rice too.
