Instant Pot Flaxseed Podi Idly (Lunchbox Recipe)

This is one of the best ways to use the flaxseeds in our diet that are rich in Omega fatty acids which is very essential to our body and brain functions. I have already posted idly batter recipe, idly fry, protein rich idly, kaima idly. Check out that too.

Cooking time: 3 mins

Ingredients:

Idly batter - 1/2 cup
Flaxseed powder / podi - 1 tspn
Garlic - 2 (finely chopped)
Mustard seeds - 1/8 tspn
Uraddal - 1 tspn
Curry leaves - few
Sesame oil or ghee - 1 tspn
Salt a pinch

Method:

1. Grab all the ingredients.

2. Mix the flaxseeds powder in the batter.

3. Grease the idly moulds with oil. Pour the batter into the moulds.

4. Switch on the IP. Press the saute mode. Pour a cup of water in the inner pot. Once it starts boiling place the idly plate over the trivet.

5. Close the lid. Press the steam mode for 3 mins in High Pressure HP in vent position. Once the steam starts coming count the 3 mins on your timer. Then switch off. Wait for the pressure to be released naturally.

6. Open the lid. Take out the idly plate. Wait for a minute. Scoop out the idlys with a spoon.


7. Heat a pan. Add oil, mustard seeds, uraddal, curry leaves.

8. Add garlic and saute till it becomes golden.

9. Add the idlys. Toss it for a second. Switch off.

10. Healthy flaxseed podi idly is ready.

Notes:

Adding ghee will also tastes good.
You can also add the flaxseed podi while tossing instead of mixing in the batter.
