Sakkarai Pongal is almost everyone's favorite recipe prepared not only occasionally but also a regular pongal in many of our houses. Though am not a big fan of sweet recipes I like to dedicate this recipe to my blog follower who asked for this recipe long time back....Check out my other pongal recipes.....
INSTANT POT KUTHIRAIVALI KARUVEPPIILLAI PONGAL
INSTANT POT BRAHMI LEAVES MILLET PONGAL
INSTANT POT BUCKWHEAT VEGETABLE PONGAL
INSTANT POT BARLEY SPROUTS PONGAL
VEGETABLE RAVA PONGAL
Roasted moongdal - 2 tbsn (dry roast it until gets nice aroma and roasted well)
Jaggery syrup - from 1 1/4 cup jaggery (add little water, jaggery in a pan, heat it until it gets dissolved, filter it, keep aside)
Cashews - 10
Raisins - 10
Cardamom powder - 1/2 tspn
Ghee - 4 tbsn
Water - 3 1/2 cups
2. Add the rice, Dal mixture in the pot. Add water. Mix well.
3. Close the lid. Press the manual or pressure cook mode for 12 mins in High Pressure HP in sealed position. Then do Natural Pressure Release NPR.
4. Open the lid. Mash the rice using a wooden spatula.
5. When the rice cooks we can roast the cashews and raisins in ghee.
6. Add the jaggery syrup, press the saute mode. Let it cook for about 5 mins. Mix well.
7. Add the cashews, raisins, cardamom powder.
8. Yummy sakkarai pongal is ready now.
Adding more ghee gives more taste. So don't reduce the amount of ghee mentioned.

Serving: 3-4
Ingredients:

Cashews - 10
Raisins - 10
Cardamom powder - 1/2 tspn
Ghee - 4 tbsn

Method:
1. Grab all the ingredients. Wash and soak the rice, dal mixture for 1 hr.2. Add the rice, Dal mixture in the pot. Add water. Mix well.
3. Close the lid. Press the manual or pressure cook mode for 12 mins in High Pressure HP in sealed position. Then do Natural Pressure Release NPR.
4. Open the lid. Mash the rice using a wooden spatula.
7. Add the cashews, raisins, cardamom powder.
8. Yummy sakkarai pongal is ready now.
Notes:
Many add moongdal quantity half to the amount of rice. You can add like that too. A little difference in taste will be there.Adding more ghee gives more taste. So don't reduce the amount of ghee mentioned.
