Instant Pot Tomato Semiya Biriyani

This recipe is a tasty biriyani done in semiya with a slight tangy taste and masala flavours. Check out my other BIRIYANI....

Ingredients:

Roasted semiya - 3/4 cup
Onion - 1/2 (thinly sliced)
Tomato - 1 (medium size, grind it into a fine paste)
Ginger garlic paste - 3/4 tspn
Green chilli - 1 (chopped)
Mint leaves - 10 (chopped)
Coriander leaves - few (chopped)
Frozen peas - 1/3 cup
Red chilli powder - 1/2 tspn
Turmeric - 1/4 tspn
Bayleaf - 1
Cinnamon - 2 small pieces
Cloves - 1
Fennel seeds - 3/4 tspn
Ghee - 1 1/2 tspn
Oil - 1 1/2 tspn

Method:

1. Grab all the ingredients.

2. Switch on the IP. Add oil, ghee. Add bayleaf, cinnamon, cloves, fennel seeds.

3. Add onions, green chilli. Saute till it becomes light golden brown.

4. Add ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell goes.

5. Add tomato puree and saute till the raw smell goes.

6. Add salt, turmeric, red chilli powder. Add mint leaves. Add peas. Saute till it becomes like a thick masala.


7. Add 1 1/4 cup of water.

8. Add semiya. Mix well.

9. Close the lid. Press the manual for 1 min in High Pressure HP in sealed position. Then do Quick Release QR (L0:00).

10. Open the lid. Add few coriander leaves.

11. Yummy tomato semiya biriyani is ready. You can serve with raita or chips.

  1. Love all your recipes! Quick question for this is the ginger garlic amount tspn or tbsp? it looks little big for 3/4 tspn in the picture. Thank you again for all your recipes! Saves me so much time at night :)
