Instant Pot Mixed lentil curry (Protein rich curry in IP)

I have already posted the mixed dal / lentil curry without onions and garlic in pressure cooker method. This is done with onion and garlic with a slight variation.

Cooking time: 20 mins

Serving: 4

Ingredients:

Mixed lentils - 1/3 cup (Take equal quantities of five dals - tuvar dal, moongdal, black uraddal, masoor dal, green moongdal)
Shallots - 5-6
Tomato - 1 (sliced)
Ginger - 1 1/2 inch
Garlic - 2
Green chilli - 2
Red chilli - 2
Turmeric - 1/4 tspn
Red chilli powder - 1/2 tspn
Cumin seeds - 1 tspn
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tspn
Curry leaves - few
Coriander leaves - few
Oil - 2 tspn
Salt to taste

Method:

1. Grab all the ingredients.

2. Switch on the IP. Add oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chilli, curry leaves.

3. Add shallots, tomato and saute till the tomato turns mushy.

4. Crush the green chillies, ginger and garlic. Add this to the above onion tomato mixture.

5. Add turmeric, salt, red chilli powder.

6. Add the rinsed dal. Mix well.

7. Add 2 cups of water. Add few coriander leaves.

8. Close the lid. Press the manual mode for 12 mins in High Pressure HP in sealed position. Then do Natural Pressure Release NPR.

9. Smash well using a wooden spatula.

10. Mixed lentil curry is ready to serve.

Notes:

This curry can be served for plain rice, jeera rice and rotis.
