Vaazhaipoo masala (Banana flower masala)

I would say this recipe is one of the women's special since it has lots of health benefits to the uterus.When i went to India last time my mom prepared this recipe and tasted awesome when we had it with plain rice. Whenever I buy banana flower here in the US it taste more bitter. I tried my mom's method and it reduces the bitterness a lot. Ingredients:

Banana flower - 1 (cleaned and chopped)
Onion - 1 (small, chopped)
Tomato  - 1 (small, chopped)
Green chilli - 2 (chopped)
Turmeric - 1/4 tspn
Red chilli powder - 1/2 tspn
Garam masala - 1/4 tspn
Grated coconut - 1/4
Sesame oil - 3 tspn
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tspn
Uraddal - 1 tspn
Curry leaves -
Coriander leaves - few
Salt to taste

Method:

1.  Heat a kadaai. Add oil.  Mustard seeds, uraddal.

2. Add onions,  chillies,  curry leaves. Saute until becomes translucent.

3. Add tomato. Saute till it becomes mushy.

4. Add banana florets, turmeric, salt. Saute for few seconds.

5. Add red chilli powder, garam masala and saute for a minute.

6. Add 1/3 cup of water. Close it with a lid. Cook for about 10 mins.

7. Open the lid. Add grated coconut, coriander leaves and switch off.

8. Vaazhaipoo masala is ready to serve.

Notes:

After chopping the banana florets soak it in buttermilk to avoid turning black.
