Betel leaves Garcinia Cambogia Rasam (Vetrilai kudampuli Rasam)

When I watched this recipe in a television show, I thought of trying the same with kudampuli that makes the rasam even more healthy. Since both betel leaves and Garcinia Cambogia has lots and lots of health benefits it can also be named as a MEDICINAL RASAM. This kudampuli is very effective in treating gastric ulcers, weight reduction, anti inflammatory and anti diabetic properties. Betel leaves eases constipation, improves digestion, reduces gastric pains, treats respiratory problem, has antifungal properties. Check out my other RASAM RECIPES HERE.....

Ingredients:

Betel leaves - 6
Tomato - 3
Garcinia Cambogia paste - 1 tbsn (if extract then take about 1/4 cup)
Cumin seeds - 2 tspn
Peppercorns - 2 tspn
Coriander seeds -2 tspn
Garlic - 5
Shallots - 5
Turmeric - 1/4 tspn
Asafoetida - 1/8 tspn
Coriander leaves - few (chopped)
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tspn
Oil - 1 tspn
Salt to taste

Method:

1. Grab all the ingredients.

2. Grind shallots, garlic, coriander seeds, peppercorns, cumin seeds, tomato, betel leaves, garcinia cambogia, salt, turmeric, asafoetida into a fine paste.




3. Transfer into a pan. Add 2 1/2 cups of water. Mix well. Cook until it becomes frothy.


4. Season it with oil and mustard seeds.This step is optional.

5. Add the coriander leaves.

6. Healthy Vetrilai kudampuli rasam is ready to serve hot...

Notes:

I recommend to use tender betel leaves for this recipe. Otherwise you will feel the stronger taste of betel leaves.
