Thinai Kuthiraivali Murungakeerai Onion Uthappam (Millet Onion Uthappam)

Many people started to include MILLETS in their diet regularly. This recipe will be one of the tasty and healthy varieties for those seeking millet recipes....Check out my other MILLET RECIPES.....You can prepare usual menu like idly, dosa, paniyaaram with this batter.

Cooking time: 3 mins

Serving: 4 Uthappam

Ingredients:

Mixed Millet batter - 1 cup (For batter recipe, check out the NOTES Section below)
Drumstick leaves - 1/2 cup
Onion for topping
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tspn
Oil for cooking uthappam

Method:

1. Grab all the ingredients.

2. Mix drumstick leaves, cumin seeds in the batter. Mix well.

3. Heat a dosa pan. Pour a ladle full of batter and spread like a thick uthappam. Add the onions over the uthappam. Let it cook 2 mins in a medium flame.

4. Flip the uthappam on the other side. Let it cook for another 1 minute.

5. Remove it.

6. You can prepare it like a normal dosa too.



7. Healthy millet onion uthappam is ready to serve with any chutneys of your choice.

Notes:

Foxtail Millet (Thinai arisi) - 1 cup
Barnyard millet (Kuthiraivali) - 1 cup
Uraddal - 1/2 cup
Fenugreek - 1/2 tspn
Poha - 1/4  cup
Salt to taste

Soak the MILLETS with poha together in a bowl, soak the dal with fenugreek in a bowl. Let all soak for 3 hrs. Grind the dal first until it becomes fluffy, then millet mixture into a fine paste. Mix all together with salt. Let it ferment for 5-6 hours. Then you can prepare any recipes like idly, dosa, paniyaaram. Usually millet batter ferment faster than usual rice batter.
