Ladies Finger Dal Soup (Vendaikaai Paruppu Soup)

Ladies finger has folic acid that is very essential for women's health. I have already posted ladies finger soup with kodo millet (VARAGU). Check out my HEALTHY SOUP recipes....

Cooking time: 10 mins

Serving: 2-3

Ingredients:

Ladies finger - 10 (chopped into lengthwise)
Tuvardal - 1 1/2 tbsn (soak for 1/2 an hr)
Shallots - 5 (chopped)
Garlic - 3 (crushed)
Tomato - 1 (chopped)
Milk - 3/4 cup
Fennel seeds - 1/2 tspn
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tspn
Cinnamon - 1 inch
Cloves - 2
Staranise - 1
Marathi moggu - 1
Peppercorns - 1/2 tspn
Turmeric - 1/4 tspn
Curry leaves - few (chopped)
Coriander leaves - few (chopped)
Pepper powder to taste
Lemon juice - 1 tspn (optional)
Sesame Oil - 1 tspn
Ghee - 1 tspn
Salt to taste

Method:

1. Grab all the ingredients. Cook the dal in IP for manual 10 mins.




2. Heat a pan. Add oil, ghee. Add all the spices - cinnamon, cloves, fennel seeds, cumin seeds, marathi moggu, staranise, peppercorns.

3. Add shallots, garlic. Saute for 30 seconds.

4. Add tomato and saute till it becomes mushy.

5. Add ladies finger, salt, turmeric. Saute for about 30 seconds.

6. Add 1 cup of water (include the cooked dal water). Close the lid. Let it cook for 5-6 mins.

7. Open the lid. Add dal, milk and cook for about 2-3 mins.

8. Switch off. Take out all the ladies finger with a spatula. While transferring add few peppercorns in it.

9. Now filter the soup using a strainer. Mash well so that all the essence will be strained leaving the whole spices.

10. Add curry leaves and coriander leaves. Add lemon juice.

11. Add pepper powder. Yummy ladies finger dal soup is ready to serve hot.

Notes:

You can add coconut milk instead of normal milk.
