Idly / Dosa milagai podi ( Idly / Dosa chilli powder)

This recipe is my mom's method of making idly milagai podi. This podi will always helps us when there is a lack of chutneys during breakfast and also during travel.

Preparation time: 25 mins

Yields: 600 gms

Ingredients:

Channa dal - 1 cup (200 ml)
Uraddal -1 cup (200 ml)
Red chilli - 25
Curry leaves - 2 sticks
Asafoetida - 3/4 tspn
Salt to taste

Method:

1. Grab all the ingredients.

2. Dry roast each ingredient one by one in a kadaai. Mix all ingredients together. Grind it coarsely.






3. Flavourful podi is ready. You can store it in airtight container. Serve for hot idlys with sesame oil.

Notes:

Roast each ingredient in the kadaai without taking your hands for even roasting.
The color of the dals should become nice golden color to get the nice aroma after grinding.
