Raw banana fry (Vazhakkai Varuval)


Raw banana is a good source of fiber, vitamins, minerals and contains a starch that helps to control blood sugar,manage weight and lowers blood cholesterol levels.

This recipe is not an usual fry with chilli powder and salt. I tried this recipe from a cooker show which is made from a freshly roasted ingredients.Spice lovers will enjoy the recipe for sure.

Cooking time: 20 mins

Serving: 2

Ingredients:

Raw banana - 1 (chopped in to cubes)
Onion - 1/2 (finely chopped)
Asafoetida - 1/4 tspn
Oil - 2 tspn
Turmeric - 1/4 tspn
Curry leaves few
Coriander leaves few
Salt to taste

To Roast and grind:

Coriander seeds - 1 tspn
Peppercorns - 1 tspn
Red chilli - 2
Rice - 1 tspn

Method:

1. Grab all the ingredients.

2. Dry roast all the ingredients that are mentioned for roast and grind until it changes it's colour. Grind it to a coarse powder.


3. Heat a pan. Add oil. Add onions and saute till it becomes transparent.

4. Add raw banana, salt, turmeric and saute for a minute.

5. Add the powder and mix well.

6. Cook for about 15 mins until the raw banana gets nicely coated. (Chef Dhaamu style la sollanum na ovvoru Vazhakkai layum masala utkaarndhukkanum😉😜)

7. Switch off and garnish with curry leaves and coriander leaves. Now the fry is ready.

Notes:

This fry is a good accompanied for sambar, rasam and curd rice. Have the fry with a hot rice with few drops of ghee. Tastes great. For medium spicyness,you can reduce the pepper to 1/2 tspn.
