Spinach Millet Upma Kozhukattai (NO ONION NO GARLIC KOZHUKATTAI)

This is a 2 in 1 recipe which is prepared using millet rava and spinach puree with a combination of mixed vegetables but no onions and no garlic. Check out my SPINACH KEERAI KOOTU and SPINACH MIXED LENTIL CURRY recipes too....

Ingredients:

Roasted millet rava - 1 cup (160 ml)
Blanched spinach puree - 3 1/2 cup (diluted with water)
Mixed vegetables - 2 cups (chopped, I used carrot, beans, cabbage, peas)
Grated coconut - 2 tbsn
Cumin pepper powder - 1 tspn
Ginger - 1 inch (finely chopped)
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tspn
Uraddal - 1 tspn
Turmeric - 1/4 tspn
Curry leaves - few
Ghee - 2 tspn
Oil - 2 tspn
Salt to taste

Method:

1. Grab all the ingredients.

2. Heat a pan. Add oil, ghee, mustard seeds, uraddal.

3. Add mixed vegetables, ginger, curry leaves. Saute for a minute.

4. Add turmeric, salt, cumin pepper powder. Mix well.

5. Add grated coconut.

6. Add spinach puree. Mix well.

7. Close it with a lid. Once it starts boiling add the roasted millets. Cook it covered for about 15 mins or until it gets cooked well in a slow flame.

8. Open the lid. Healthy spinach upma is ready to serve. You can serve it as it is now.

9. Another method is making dumplings out of it by steaming.

10. Steam it for 5 mins in IP.

11. Spinach Kozhukattai is ready to serve.
