Drumstick leaves soup (Murunga keerai soup - version 1)


Drumstick leaves are very rich in healthy oxidants and bioactive plant compounds.They are excellent source of protein,iron, minerals,vitamins B6 and C.It reduces inflammation, cholesterol and also lowers blood sugar levels.

Protein - 200 % more than yogurt
Calcium - 400 % more than milk
Potassium - 300 % more than banana
Vitamin C - 700 % more than oranges
Vitamin A - 400 % more than carrots

Ingredients:

Drumstick leaves - 1 cup
Tuvar dal - 2 tbsn
Small onion - 5 (chopped)
Tomato - 1/2 (chopped)
Garlic - 1 pod ( finely chopped)
Turmeric - 1/4 tspn
Sambar powder - 1 tspn
Salt to taste

Method:

1 . Add all the ingredients and dal ( washed twice) in a pressure cooker except lemon juice.


2. Add 3 cups of water. Close the lid with whistle. Cook for 4 whistles.

3. After the pressure is released open the cooker and add 1 tspn of lemon juice.Hot and healthy soup is ready to serve now.

Notes :

You can add yellow moong dal instead of tuvar dal.
