This recipe maybe new to many viewers since we always discard the stem portion of cauliflower. I would like to name it as vegetarian kaal soup because of it's appearance is similar to goat legs (paaya). Check out my other soup recipes too.
Onion - 1/3 cup (chopped)
Tomato - 1 (chopped)
Ginger - 1 inch (chopped)
Tuvar dal - 2 tbsn
Bay leaf - 1
Peppercorns - 1 tspn
Fennel seeds powder - 1/2 tspn
Cumin powder - 1 tspn
Turmeric - 1/4 tspn
Oil - 1 tspn
Lemon juice - 1 tspn
Pepper powder to taste
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves - few
2. Heat a cooker.Add oil, bayleaf and peppercorns.
3. Add onions and ginger.Saute till it becomes transparent.
4. Add tomato and saute till it becomes mushy.
5. Add the stem,salt, turmeric,cumin powder ,fennel powder and saute for a minute.
6. Add 1 1/2 cups of water and close the lid.Cook for 2 whistles.
7. Once the pressure subsides open the cooker and discard the bayleaf.
8. Add cooked tuvar dal (smash it well) diluted with 1 cup of water.
9. Cook until it becomes frothy.
10. Add pepper powder and lemon juice.
11. Switch off and garnish with coriander leaves.
