PAARAMBARIYA ULUNDHAN KANJI - MY COOKING VIDEO IN TAMIL TV BAY AREA

When Tamil tv bay area asked me for a cooking show I was so excited and happy to be a part of that. I thought of doing some traditional recipe that most people forgot nowadays...Yes, it's the URADDAL SWEET PORRIDGE that has lots of health benefits to all particularly women and teenage girls. It gives strength for bones, joints and hip bones. Taking this porridge twice in a month will definitely helps people suffering from backpain. Adding palm jaggery that has lots of iron contenthelps who are anaemic. 


Cooking time: 20 mins


Serving: 6-7


Ingredients:


Uraddal - 7 tbsn
Palm jaggery (karuppatti) - 1 1/2 cup
Cardamom - 1/2 tspn

Method:


1. Wash and Soak the uraddal for one hour. Soak the palm jaggery in 1/2 cup of water so that it gets dissolved easily.

2. Heat the palm jaggery filled with water to prepare the syrup. The palm jaggery must be dissolved completely. Keep it aside.

3. Grind the soaked uraddal in to a fine paste by adding water.

4. Transfer the grinded paste in a heavy bottom pan. Add 3-4 cups of water. Cook for 5 mins.

5. Then add the filtered palm jaggery mixture into the above and cook for about 15 mins by stirring now and then to avoid sticking at the bottom.

6. Finally add the cardamom powder and switch off.

7. Yummy and healthy PAARAMBARIYA ULUNDHAN KANJI is ready to serve.

Notes:


Time mentioned for cooking the uraddal is a must. Otherwise the taste will be bitter.
You can add grated coconut atlast if you like.
