Sathu Maavu Inippu, kaara roti ( Health Mix Sweet and Spicy roti)

All of us usually prepare porridge using the health mix (sathu maavu). So I thought of giving a try for this sweet and spicy version roti. It came out really tasty and at the same time healthy too. I have used the NATURE MILLS MILLET & CEREAL MIX that has many healthy ingredients like red rice, black rice, bamboo rice, flaxseed, green gram, black gram, Bengal gram, peanut, pepper, cardamom, dry ginger and almost all millets like little millet, finger millet, barnyard millet, jowar, proso millet. Check out my other MILLET varieties....

SWEET SATHU MAAVU ROTI:

Cooking time: 5 mins

Serving: 5 small rotis

Ingredients:

Health mix - 1/2 cup
Jaggery - 2 tbsn
Coconut - 2 tbsn (chopped into small pieces)
Ghee for rotis

Method:

1. Grab all the ingredients.

2. Add 2 tbsn of water in the jaggery and heat until it gets dissolved. Filter the jaggery water.

3. Add coconut pieces to the mix. Add jaggery water to the mix and prepare like a dough.

4. Make equal size balls out of the dough.

5. In a plastic sheet apply ghee. Keep the dough and press gently using your hands.

6. Heat a tawa. Place the above in it. Let it cook for 2-3 mins. Drizzle ghee around the corner.

7. Flip the roti. Cook for another 3 mins. Add ghee on the top. Remove and keep aside.

8. Healthy sathu maavu sweet roti is ready for the evening snacks.

Notes:

Add water while preparing the dough if needed.
You can add palm jaggery instead of jaggery.
You can add grated coconut so that you won't get much cracks while spreading. But usually I like to have a bite texture of the coconut pieces. You can even add roasted peanuts, cashews to make your kids snack more healthy.

SPICY SATHU MAAVU ROTI:

Curry leaves - few (chopped)
Coriander leaves - few (chopped)
Oil to cook roti
Salt to taste

Method:

1. Grab all the ingredients.

2. Mix all the ingredients together and make like a adai batter. Add water for the consistency.

3. Heat a dosa pan. Pour the batter using a ladle in the pan and spread like adai. We have added onions. So it will be like an uthappam. Drizzle oil around the edges. Cook for about 2 mins.

4. Flip the other side and cook for another 2 mins. Remove it.

5. Spicy health mix roti is ready to serve with coriander coconut chutney.

Notes:

You can add equal quantities of both dosa batter and health mix too.
I added ginger for spicyness. Add green chillies if you need it more spicy.
