Flaxseed powder (Flaxseed podi)

As you all know that flaxseeds are rich in Omega fatty acids, they can be taken as in the form of like this powder that is very tasty to eat with plain rice and idly, dosas too.

Preparation time: 15 mins

Yields: 600 gms

Ingredients:

Flaxseeds - 1 cup (236 ml)
Uraddal - 4 tbsn
Channadal- 2 tbsn
Cumin seeds - 2 tspn
Peppercorns - 2 tspn
Red chilli - 10
Curry leaves - few
Asafoetida - 1/4 tspn
Salt to taste

Method:

1. Grab all the ingredients.

2. Dry roast the flaxseeds in a kadaai. You will start hearing the splutters once it gets roasted. Dry roast the other ingredients one by one.






3. Add salt and grind in to a coarse powder.

4. Flaxseeds powder is ready. Store it in an airtight container. Serve it with a dollop of ghee for rice.

Notes:

Don't roast the flaxseeds too much. Otherwise the oil from flaxseeds will starts oozing out.
